DONATE NOW

Over the past five years, Seattle MESA's operating budget has doubled, and we have added new programs, including our Elementary Project, Ninth Grade Bridge program, and Saturday Academies for high school students. Your generous support can help sustain our recent growth, and engage more elementary, middle and high school students in MESA's hands-on math and science programs and opportunities.

To send a donation, checks should be made out to: "University of Washington Foundation/MESA".

Elementary School Students
The Seattle MESA Elementary Project gives elementary teachers the tools and skills they need to engage underrepresented minority students early in mathematics and science, and starts 400 Seattle students and their families on the pathway to college.

MESA Elementary Students

  • Identify and aspire to careers such as computer scientist, engineer, and scientist
  • Are more likely to see themselves as "good at math."
  • Are more likely to help their peers with math and science
  • MESA Elementary Teachers

  • Express greater confidence about teaching math and science
  • Can relate math and science concepts to real-world applications
  • Receive funding support for classroom math and science materials and field trips
  • Cost per student: $250
    Project Goal: $100,000 (400 students)

    Middle School Summer Programs
Each summer, MESA middle school students participate in MESA Middle School Summer Science for Girls and for Boys and MESA Summer Math Scholars. Middle School Summer Science is a two-week, hands-on science experience, held at the University of Washington, with the goal of engaging 20 middle school girls and 20 middle school boys in a love of science, awareness of science-based careers, and an understanding of how science and technology impact their lives and their communties.

Summer Math Scholars is a three-week, intensive math program, designed to ensure that African-American, Native American, and Latino students start high school at or above grade level in mathematics. Seventy students entering high school at Cleveland, Franklin, Garfield, Rainier Beach, and Chief Sealth High Schools work collaboratively with high school and college-age tutors on challenging, hands-on problem-solving activities.

    Project Goal: $65,000
