STUDENTS

MESA students develop problem-solving skills as they prepare for university study in mathematics, engineering, and science. They are leaders and role models within their schools and communities and are mentors and tutors for younger students. Through MESA classes, after-school programs, Saturday Academy, summer programs, and special events, MESA students develop an interest in mathematics, engineering, and science careers, recognizing that African-American, Native American, Latino, and female students can and will excel in these fields.

Elementary School students participate in hands-on activities related to math and science to help them begin to think of themselves as mathemeticians and scientists. Students begin to identify with occupations such as computer scientists, biologists, and engineers.
